Lottery Tickets Coming Soon

August 5, 2019

Today Emily sat down with the Director of Communications of the Mississippi Lottery Corporation, Meg Annison. Annison says that everything is on track for a December 1st start date in the scratch off ticket sales in the Mississippi Lottery. There are many steps to starting a state lottery, but the benefits are worth it. “For ten years lottery proceed collections up to 80 million will go toward infrastructure needs around the state.” Annison said. ” Another perk is any net proceeds over 80 million in perpetuity will go to the education enhancement fund. “

We can not only expect Mississippi’s residents to keep their money in the state instead of traveling to Louisiana or Arkansas for lottery tickets, but also expect Alabama residents to travel to Mississippi for tickets now. “A lot of service stations and potential retailers have reached out to us who are basically right on that (Mississippi and Alabama) border who are anticipating a lot of movement.” Annison stated on the matter.

The big question on everyone’s minds is, “When will Mississippi have Powerball and Mega Millions?” The answer to that question is in the works at the moment, but Annison said they are making major headway. “We were just approved Friday into the organization Multi-State Lottery Association. They’re the group who help us gain access to Powerball and Mega Millions. We anticipate bringing those games on board in the first quarter of 2020.”
